The Circuit Court Public Service Center (Room 305) has a wealth of information. All of the records/documents that are on file are available for public research, and copies may be made -- except for adoptions and juvenile records.
 
The Clerk's Office offers access to our Land Records Management System (LRMS) via the Internet. Access will be by subscription only. In order to obtain a subscription, complete the Subscriber Agreement and Application. Access is also available in the Records, Research & Copy Center, Room 305.

The Land Records Division of the Circuit Court does not record nor maintain information regarding the assessed value of real estate. Assessment information is available at the following offices:

Research Aids
The following areas were once a part of Prince William:
  In 1731 Prince William County was formed from Stafford & King George.
  In 1742 Fairfax was formed from Prince William.
  In 1757 Loudoun was formed from Fairfax.
  In 1759 Fauquier was formed from Prince William.
 
Research
The Public Service Center has no full time staff to assist with genealogy research, however a volunteer is often here and may be able to assist you. For basic inquires e-mail, call 703-792-6033 or mail a letter to Prince William County Circuit Court, Attention: Archives, 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas, VA 20110. More extensive research must be done in person or, if you live out of the area, by hiring a private researcher. For assistance with extensive land records researches, consider hiring a local title company or attorney.

To obtain copies of deeds and/or other land records, come to the Public Service Center located in Room 305 of the Judicial Center, Prince William County Circuit Court, 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas, VA 20110-5998, or mail your request, along with appropriate fees and a self-addressed stamped return envelope, to the above address.

  While the Clerk's Office has many interesting records, the principal center for genealogical research in Virginia is the Library of Virginia, 800 East Broad Street, Richmond. Records for counties throughout Virginia (including wills, deeds, and marriage bonds), military service records, church records, Land Office records (patents and grants), and tax records are located there. The Library of Virginia also has census records and large collections of genealogical notes and charts.
  The Virginia Historical Society has numerous materials helpful to genealogists such as genealogical notes and charts, family papers, Bible records, county histories, and census records.
